The Modigliani Initiative strives to serve as a collaborative platform for examining and documenting the life of the artist, his work, and his artistic milieu.

The organization maintains a state-of-the-art database of Modigliani’s known works. With user-friendly search features, this repository fosters scholarly analysis and the ability to cross-reference works of art, dealers, collectors, exhibitions, and related literature.

Spotlight will periodically present short essays on the latest research findings and overlooked aspects of Modigliani’s life and circle. This feature of the website will focus on the individuals—models, collectors, friends, and lesser-known art dealers in Modigliani’s circle—whose stories enrich the provenance of his works and, at the same time, contribute to the scholarship on the artist.

In Modigliani Reconsidered, we present essays that are based on recently discovered information about provenance, exhibitions, or literary references, and which shed new light on Modigliani’s oeuvre. New facts often raise new questions and our goal is to foster continued scholarly dialogue.
